Speaker Bio

John Swinton is Professor of Practical Theology and Pastoral Care at the University of Aberdeen, and a leading voice in theology, mental health, and disability studies. Before entering academia, he worked as a psychiatric nurse and hospital chaplain—experience that deeply informs his compassionate, grounded approach to theology.

He is the author of several award-winning books, including Becoming Friends of Time and Finding Jesus in the Storm, which explore how we care for one another in the midst of suffering, confusion, and vulnerability.
