Thinking of Becoming a Teacher?

  • North Carolina Study Center 203 Battle Lane Chapel Hill, NC, 27514 United States (map)

Have you ever wondered if you might enjoy teaching and coaching students in a K-12 school?

Have you reflected on the impact that some important teachers have had on your life?

Have you wanted to explore what the day-to-day life of a teacher looks and feels like?

Have you thought, "I wonder if I might follow Jesus by teaching younger students?"

Have you wished for a time of discernment after college, when you could test your gifts and explore what God might be calling you to?

Chip Denton (Head of Trinity School in Durham) and Spencer Dicks (Teacher at Trinity and Director of the Trinity School Fellows Program) will provide lunch for anyone who wants to explore these questions together on Friday, April 10, at 12:30 here at the Study Center.  They will explore questions like "Why education as a calling?" and "Why teach?"  And they will share from their own experiences and those of their colleagues, to help students gain a vision of what it might mean to test their gifts and calling in an educational setting.  They will be glad to field questions from the group.

Chip and Spencer also look forward to sharing with the group about the new Trinity School Fellows Program: a one-year full-time paid fellowship with housing, for college graduates and other young career changers.  This program, which plans to welcome the first cohort of fellows in the fall of 2027, is designed to be a year of discernment, of training and mentoring, and of discipleship as fellows test their giftings and passions in a TK-12 independent Christian school.
