Mike McIntyre 

Board Member

Mike McIntyre served as a United States Congressman for the last 18 years and has recently been named Senior Advisor for Government Relations at Ward and Smith law firm in Raleigh. He graduated from UNC with both his undergraduate and law degrees. A Morehead Scholar, he was active in student government, intramural sports, tutored in a local junior high and served as chapter President of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He was presented the Sullivan Award his senior year by the chancellor as best exemplifying "unselfish interest in the welfare of his fellow man."  In law school he was President of the Christian Legal Society and served on the Student Health Service Advisory Board. In addition to winning several national legislative awards while he was in Congress, he was Co-Chairman of the Congressional Prayer Caucus and the Congressional Prayer Breakfast, and he was a recipient of the national Distinguished Christian Statesman of the Year Award. 

He and his wife Dee, who is also actively helping NCSC, have two sons, both of whom won scholarships to Carolina and are now attorneys.
